- Abstract
The article discusses the Iranian Revolution of 1978-1979, led by religious leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini against the rule of shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. Topics include the overthrow of the elected government of premier Mohammad Mossadegh Iran in 1953 by forces led by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency and Great Britain's MI6 who replaced Mossadegh who was against American Cold War and British petroleum interests with the more amenable Mohammed Peza Pahlavi, as Shah of Iran who created an authoritarian rule which sought to modernize the country..
