- Abstract
The paper outlines the objectives of the EU energy policy to 2050, the challenges for this policy and the transition to low carbon economy. The external energy relations of the EU have been shortly described as well as the roads for improving collaboration with its main partners. The European Parliament resolution on the Energy roadmap up to 2050, European commission documents, directives, papers and other documents have been referred. The pillars of the EU energy policy have been explained. The results of the analysis of the consultancy company "Ecofix", the international environmental organization WWF and the scenarios for the development of European energy and transport till 2050 are presented in the paper. The position of the European Parliament on the basic elements of the EU long run energy strategy till 2050, are shortly presented as well.
