- Abstract
This article discusses the influence of the asymmetry of a three-phase load on power loss and asymmetry of linear voltage in three-phase power-transmission lines. Analytical equations are given that determine the increase in loss in power-transmission lines during the operation of a three-phase four-wire power-transmission line for active asymmetrical load with constant cumulative power. Graphical dependences are presented allowing the influence of load asymmetry on the increase in loss in a power-transmission line to be assessed. This article describes an approach to calculation of the voltage-asymmetry coefficient and assessment of the influence of the asymmetrical load on it. Analytical equations and dependences are obtained that determine the influence of asymmetrical active load on the voltage-asymmetry coefficient by inverse sequence and on loss in a three-phase four-wire power-transmission line. The performed analysis is based on the assumption that asymmetry in the operation mode of power-transmission line is caused only by the difference in active power of load phases and power-transmission line. The equations obtained with such assumptions determine the boundaries of minimum possible negative impacts on increase in loss in the power-transmission line and voltage-asymmetry coefficient. The existence of reactive power in load phases will lead only to an additional increase in loss and voltage-asymmetry coefficient. The presented results can be used to show the potential effects of balancing devices in power-transmission lines. Modern balancing devices allow uniformly redistributing cumulative active power while simultaneously compensating the total reactive power in the phases of a power-transmission line. In this sense, the results presented here illustrate the visually minimum loss in a power-transmission line as a function of the parameters of a power-transmission line and load upon the use of balancing devices providing an optimum operation mode of a power-transmission line.
