- Abstract
A 75-year-old woman presented with a rectal mass discovered during a colonoscopy screening. The mass was initially suspected to be a neuroendocrine tumor based on endoscopic ultrasonography. However, after obtaining consent, the mass was removed through endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD). Postoperative biopsy revealed the presence of Hodgkin/Reed-Sternberg (HRS) cells, indicating lymphocyte-rich classic Hodgkin lymphoma. This case is unique because primary rectal Hodgkin lymphoma is extremely rare and typically occurs in patients with HIV or inflammatory bowel diseases. This is the first reported case of primary rectal Hodgkin lymphoma diagnosed after endoscopic removal.
