- Abstract
Familial indications The guidelines of the American College of Radiology (ACR)1 include family history of congenital abnormalities as an indication for a detailed fetal anatomical examination. Such criteria would be valuable for the managing physician and/or sonographer performing the routine anomaly scan, allowing prompt identification of pregnancies at risk for congenital anomalies based on maternal and familial risk factors and/or fetal indications. However, no robust evidence has been reported recently in the literature to estimate the recurrence risk of congenital anomalies in the presence of a positive familial history of congenital defects.
