- Abstract
The article focuses on several methods of learning and teaching and also emphasizes on the role of libraries in it. The focus on personalization and the availability of virtual learning environments (VLEs) has led to an emerging interest in electronic portfolios (e-portfolio), which students can carry with themselves. Portfolios are often used to evidence the achievement of learning outcomes for summative assessment. Electronic portfolios offer the opportunity of bringing together materials that have been acquired along the progress of the course of study. They allow different media, including video and audio as well as images and other presentation formats, in a way the print equivalent portfolio could not do. The choice of an e-portfolio allows the course team to provide students with an assessment method that encouraged students to make choices and to demonstrate abilities as independent learners. Libraries can contribute in the identification, evaluation and selection of resources, which course teams or individual learners may wish to import into their e-portfolio.
