Reports on a survey which shows that almost 40 percent of patients with lung cancer in the United States believe that surgery can make cancer spread by exposing the tumor to air. Implication of the widespread acceptance of the myth on efforts to cure early-stage lung cancer; African American patients as the primary believers of the myth.
