- Abstract
The concept of energy efficiency (or energy optimization) has become, today, one of the main concerns of humanity to the whole world. In recent decades, the maritime industry, has strived to optimize the fuel consumption of ships through the development of engines and propulsion systems, improved hull design, or using alternative energies, this way making a reduction in the amount of CO2 released to the atmosphere. Main ideea of this paper is to improve the energy performance of a crude oil super tanker ship of 305000 dwt, by studying the possibility of introducing alternative energy sources onboard.
