- Abstract
A biography of Pennsylvania environmentalist and forester Joseph Trimble Rothrock is presented. The article examines his conservationist and preservationist stances, his role in the professionalization of forestry, and his political work. Other topics include the Pennsylvania Forestry Association (PFA), Rothrock's writings on the effects of forest fires and deforestation, and his position as commissioner of the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture's Department of Forestry.
