- Abstract
This article presents a literary criticism for the book "Force Ripe," by Grenadian author Cindy McKenzie. The author comments on the representation in the novel of the history of maroons, descendants of Africans who escaped slavery, as well as the repression of black peoples in Grenada. The characters' resistance to government and the rise of the Rastafarian movement in the 1970s is also explored.
