This article explores the diversity and complexity of Marxist movements in Indonesia, focusing on the experiences of three prominent Indonesian Marxists - Semaoen, Darsono, and Iwa Koesoemasoemantri. It discusses their sojourns abroad and how these experiences shaped their understanding of Marxism and their contributions to Indonesian Marxist discourse. The article emphasizes the importance of studying the impact of sojourning on Indonesian Marxism in understanding broader dynamics of anti-colonial movements and the transmission of ideas. It highlights the diverse perspectives and intellectual inspirations that these activists brought to Indonesian society, enriching the intellectual tradition of Indonesian Marxism.
