- Abstract
In this study, producible of dual-phase steel from SAE 4140 steel, having 0.44 C%, 0.35S%i, 0.71Mn%, 1.13Cr%, 0.17 Mo % chemical composition, have been investigated. Dual-phase steel production was accomplished by intercritically annealing at intercritical temperatures area (α+γ, 740°C ve 775°C) after that water quenching, and change of martensite volume fraction (MVF) with intercritical annealing temperatures was determined on dual phase steels. To change martensite morphologies in ferrit matrix, quenched (S), normalized (N) from 900°C and as-received structure were used as initial structure at dual-phase heat treatment. These specimens annealed at 743°C and 748°C after that water quenched. As a result, dual phase steels having finer martensite (SS) from S initial structure, middle size (NS) from N initial structure and course (BS) from B initial structure, were obtained. On tensile specimens different martensite dispersion and %38 MVF were obtained. As a results, relationships between tensile properties and microstructures were evaluated. Dual phase steel provided exactly higher elongation than original SAE 4140 steel. In dual phase steels, SS dual phase steels showed best strengths and elongations values.
