- Abstract
The article presents an analysis whether the confiscation and impoundment of a foreign passport by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) violates the general principles of customary international law. It explores the importance of conducting an examination on the history of passports and its treatment in the international community to be able to determine if any violation exists. It highlights the survey on the general principles of customary international law which links to the issue.
