- Authors
Stevenson, Tom
- Abstract
The article focuses on the depiction of prominent women as exempla in the book one of Livy's "Ab Urbe Condita," which features the history of Rome. It mentions that the role of women was to promote the efforts of their men to establish Rome's stability and strength, which seems to be an involution of their efforts with respect for their families. It states several women and groups who were portrayed by Livy as exempla of a flexible or open type including Hersilia, Tarpeia, and the Sabine Women .
