- Abstract
The article discusses why the Fifth Amendment privilege should protect Americans from providing biometric passwords for unlocking devices. Topics discussed the privilege against self-incrimination, how biometric encryption works, and the unprotected status of biometric decryption. Also discussed are the willingness of the Supreme Court and lower courts to expand the privacy interests of individuals and court decisions regarding compulsion of biometrics to unlock a device.
