- Abstract
The article focuses on the curatorial benefit of Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archeology in Oxford, England after its redevelopment for a new extension. It offers a brief history of the museum, when Elias Ashmole donated the John Tradescant collection to Oxford University for teaching and research facility. It mentions that the extension provided 39 additional galleries and was designed by Rick Mather Architects costing 61 million pounds with 15 million pounds from the Heritage Lottery Fund. It features several changes in the museum's Cockerrell building such as its grand staircase and the use of Portland stone to emphasize the connection with the building. According to director Christopher Brown of the Ashmolean, the task was to make the collections speak and create narratives.
