BIG IDEAS to Help Your Practice Thrive.
- Abstract
The article presents big ideas for energizing and strengthening family physicians' practices. One of the ideas focuses on reduction of overheads in practice. The article also focuses on systematic team approach in chronic illness for better patient care and better communication and management to result in efficient patient care. Several family physicians in the community had been working together for several years as an independent practice association for the purpose of sharing risk while contracting with a local HMO. The average primary care physician coordinates the care of approximately 3,000 patients, making it difficult to provide optimal, personalized care to every patient. The practice was designed to eliminate or reduce this problem.
