- Abstract
The article addresses the idea of patenting traditional knowledge in underdeveloped countries with particular focus on Mexico. The author proposes domestic legislation that would protect the intellectual property rights of traditional knowledge holders while encouraging compensation from the corporate sector. Other topics presented include an overview of Mexican and international patent laws and problems with applying current international patent laws to traditional knowledge.
