- Title
Serious infection and mortality in patients with Crohn's disease: more than 5 years of follow-up in the TREAT™ Registry.
- Abstract
This study is the latest analysis of the TREAT™ (Crohn's Therapy Resource, Evaluation and Assessment Tool) Registry and provides important, up-to-date safety information on infliximab. Lichtenstein and colleagues report similar mortality in Crohn's disease patients treated with infliximab or immunomodulators compared with those receiving other treatments. There was an increased risk of serious infection with infliximab, although Crohn's disease severity and use of prednisone or narcotic analgesics carried higher risks.
