- Abstract
The article discusses the introduction of seizing techniques in chen taijiquan martial arts style. The author stresses the lower stances and more explicit silk reeling and burst of power as the characteristics of chen style. He notes that the lower stances translates to qinna movement which means seizing and catching the opponent and put to difficult situation. He emphasizes the application of quinna techniques that lets the whole body reacts as one unified life energy that can synchronize with all other parts to work as one force. The author further stresses the principle of thirteen postures coming from taiji style that leads to the application of qinna technique. These are meet, pluck, advance, centering, follow, adverse, retreat, push, elbow, rightwards, press, lean and leftwards.
