- Abstract
In 1911, the Basque National Party (PNV) created its own trade union opposing the General Workers Union (UGT), composed mainly by immigrants of other Spanish regions. During the Franco dictatorship, ELA-STV made no distinctions of origin; it split away from its own exiled direction as a Marxist Basque Socialist Movement in order to create its own political party.
