- Abstract
Adolphus Hollub was the purchasing agent for a dry goods store in Shasta, California, in the 1850's. By 1860, A. Hollub & Company of San Francisco ran an export-import business, bringing furs from Siberia. The company also sold oil and lamps. In 1878, Hollub became an insurance broker and appraiser. He also served as public administrator for the City and County of San Francisco, as a leader in the Masonic Order, and as president of Congregation Emanu-El.
