- Abstract
The aim of this study was to determine the effects of bee bread powder addition into Japanese quails' diet on the amino (AA) and fatty acids (FA) composition of their breast and thigh meat. A total of 80 one-day-old quails were assigned to four groups: control group without any supplementation, 1. experimental group fed with bee bread supplementation in amount 0.2% of feed mixture (FM), 2. experimental group fed with bee bread supplementation in amount 0.4% of FM, and 3. experimental group fed with bee bread supplementation in amount 0.6% of FM. The feeding period lasted 56 days. Based on our results we can state that the bee bread powder supplementation did not influence the AA and FA composition of the valuable meat parts of Japanese quail. However, thanks to the favourable AA and FA content and undemanding breeding of Japanese quails, we highly recommend using this type of meat in the human nutrition.
