- Abstract
The first article discusses the unique presentation of atopic dermatitis (AD) in the Greenlandic Inuit population. A case-controlled study found that ethnicity had a significant impact on immune biomarkers, skin microbiota, and lipid composition of AD skin in Inuit children compared to Danish children. The study suggests that the lower level of exposure to Western lifestyle in Greenland and its growing urbanization may be associated with a more atopic endotype. The second article presents findings from an online survey of parents regarding their regrets about sun overexposure during their own childhood and their efforts to protect their children from sun rays. The study found that parents who regretted excessive sun exposure during their own childhood were more likely to take preventive measures for their children. The third article discusses a rare case of idiopathic haemolacria, or spontaneous bleeding from the eyes, in a 12-year-old girl. The authors recommend careful diagnostic procedures to rule out underlying causes and emphasize the importance of supporting the mental health of children and their families. The fourth article highlights skin changes, including xerosis, in a male receiving androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) for advanced prostate cancer. The case report suggests that ADT may be associated with premature and reversible skin aging, and calls for further research on this topic.
