- Abstract
The article focuses on the popular music and culture from the American Orthodox Jewish community. Jewish popular music was grounded from the U.S. environment to address communal needs in a process common among Jews. Orthodox was regarded during the 19th century in Brooklyn, New York as a label that emerged as a traditional religious endeavor for the Jews. Moreover, music and languages by the Jewish were studied by sociologists to determine the difference between subculture and parent culture.
