- Abstract
The article discusses the key role of medical imaging in solid organ donation and transplantation, in terms of assessing potential organ donors and recipients, evaluate donated organs, and monitor transplantation outcomes. The history, biology, and ethics of organ donation and transplantation medicine are described. Several current and emerging imaging applications in the transplantation field are highlighted and various areas of concern with relation to organ transplant are included.
