- Abstract
Waste management in Pasir Putih Village, South Jambi, poses a serious challenge that requires innovative solutions. This article discusses environmental sustainability strategies through collaboration among academics, the community, and NGOs. The increasing amount of poorly managed waste underscores the urgency for action. The initiative involves the Environmental Engineering Program at the University of Jambi, focusing on RT 16. The activity's methodology includes field observation, planning, collaboration, and execution. Socialization and river area clean-up are integral parts of these efforts. Evaluation indicates an improvement in the community's understanding of the economic value of waste. Bangkitku Waste Bank and Sihkumbang Waste Bank play roles in transportation and ongoing monitoring. The outcome establishes collaboration in the form of a mini–Waste Bank in RT 16 Pasir Putih, to reduce waste volume towards the Talang Gulo Sanitary Landfill. This approach is anticipated to be an inspirational model for other communities in addressing local waste management challenges.
