The Natural Areas Journal has published numerous articles on a variety of topics, including old-growth forest conservation, nonnative species management, pollinator services, fire management, and visitor management. Some of the most cited articles include studies on the management of invasive species, the negative effects of roads on amphibians, the impact of deer on forest understories, the effects of dogs on wildlife populations, the challenges of protected areas in Chile, the spread of nonnative plants along roadsides, changes in vegetation in old-growth forests, seed sourcing for restoration in the face of climate change, the history of the Piping Plover bird, the native status of Reed Canarygrass, and control methods for Garlic Mustard.
