- Abstract
Con la finalidad de realizar mejoramiento genético para generar variedades de ajo que permitan incrementar los rendimientos en las zonas productoras de ajo de Aguascalientes, se desarrolló en el Campo Experimental Pabellón- Instituto Nacional de Investigaciones Forestales, Agrícolas y Pecuarias, la variedad de ajo blanco tipo Perla Orión, derivándose del clon R-35-10-1B, el cual se considera como una alternativa para explotarse en la región debido a sus excelentes características botánicas, hortícolas y de rendimiento; el uso comercial de la variedad Orión permite obtener de 16 a 18 t ha-1, en comparación al rendimiento medio de 12 t ha-1, mismo que representa un incremento por arriba de 30% y por consecuencia la rentabilidad del cultivo.
