- Title
Conrad's Navigation: Joseph Conrad as a Professional Sailor.
- Authors
Mörzer Bruyns, Willem F. J.
- Abstract
The article focuses on the life and works of professional sailor Joseph Conrad of Great Britain. Conrad has gained in quick succession of three Board of Trade certificates of competency required to reach the highest rank in a British merchant vessel. It states that Conrad's ships in which he sailed are well documented, as well as his voyages and travels. It adopts a broader approach in assessing Conrad's Board of Trade examinations by discussing his theoretical knowledge of navigation, seamanship and the way he applied it at sea.
