- Abstract
The article presents U.S. legal cases and developments in marketing relative to the regulation of product characteristics. In reference to product quality and safety standards the Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Association of the United States, Inc. and Automobile Importers of America, Inc. v. Robert Abrams, Attorney General for the State of New York case is cited. The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York ruled that state automobile "lemon laws" can be preempted by U.S. federal law under certain criteria.
