- Abstract
The article focuses on weather forecasts provided outside of scientific institutions in the United States during the late 19th and early 20th century. The author examines the policing of counterfeit weather forecasts, explores the relationship between weather forecasting and advertising, and discusses how the commercialization of weather forecasts presented a problem for the U.S. government.
