The article examines the issue of social justice in the first season of the comedy-drama television series "Orange is the New Black (OITNB)." Topics covered include stereotypes in OITNB, sex and violence in the series, the conditions of women before entering and after release from prison and the potential of the show raise viewers' awareness and resistance to the prison industrial complex.
