The article discusses the relations between the Soviet Union and the Western countries the U.S. and Great Britain regarding the surrender of war criminal, German President and chief of the Germany Navy Grand Admiral Karl Dönitz's surrender in May 1945 during World War II. An overview of the German Nazi leader Adolf Hitler's choice of Dönitz as his successor is provided.
