- Title
Will More Countries Become Democratic?
- Authors
Huntington, Samuel P.
- Abstract
The article discusses the possibility that other democratic regimes will emerge in countries around the world, and it mentions various decolonization and economic development policies in the twentieth century, as well as information about the prospects for transitions to democracy since the 1950s. Freedom around the world is addressed, along with individual rights and liberties. Authoritarian states and national security are examined, as well as social values and U.S. political history. The post-World War II era is assessed in relation to America's imposition of democracy in places such as West Germany, Austria, and Japan.
