- Abstract
In the face of the "connected" patient, the debate over the boundaries between information and advertising in medicine is controversial. The purpose of this article is to understand the perception of a relatively new phenomenon: communication via Instagram by aesthetic surgeons and doctors. Through two qualitative studies conducted with doctors and young women using Instagram, this work builds on the typology of Suchman's legitimacy and reveals the existence of contrasting positions in relation to this practice. The results present avenues for reflection that stakeholders can use to improve the patient/healthcare professional relationship.
