- Title
JOSEPH AND THE EGLAH ARUFAH.
- Authors
Walfish, Ruth
- Abstract
The article discusses the eglah arufah used by Joseph to signal to his father Jacob that he was alive as described by the midrash on Genesis and by the Rashi. It says that the midrash considers the wagons sent by Joseph to Jacob as reference to heifers or eglah to signal the laws of eglah arufah, which he and Jacob last studied. Moreover, the Rashi highlights that the eglah arufah signals to Jacob that he was not accountable for Joseph's presumed death as neither seen him nor spilled his blood.
