- Title
INTRODUCTION SYMPOSIUM: NEED FOR RESEARCH ON MENTAL HEALTH AND NEURO(PSYCHIATRY).
- Authors
Van Royen, Paul
- Abstract
The article discusses the need for more research and randomised controlled trials (RCT) in mental health and neuropsychiatry, in view of the high prevalence of mental illness and psychiatric disorders and the evolution of neurosciences and genetics. It states that several interventions in mental health and psychiatry still lack the evidence base, despite advances in the understanding of disorders like Alzheimer disease. It discusses a collaborative research centre included at the University of Antwerp's Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences for research on neuropsychiatry and mental health.
