- Abstract
This article explores the impact of different fermentation methods on the treatment of solid organic waste in batch bioreactors. With the global increase in organic waste, more efficient waste treatment solutions are needed. The study compares strictly anaerobic fermentation with hydrogen synthesis to fermentation with pulsed air access. Both methods showed promise in waste degradation, but the anaerobic fermentation had a higher hydrogen yield while the pulsed air fermentation effectively reduced the concentration of dissolved organic compounds. This research is valuable for selecting waste treatment strategies for small-scale bioreactors in households or small farms.
