- Abstract
The article focuses on symbolism of plants, animals and food in Macedonian spring ritual songs . It states that symbols in songs also relate to weddings, fertility of young women and prosperity of nature. Songs discussed include Lazar Songs sung on festival of Lazarovden (Lazarus Day), song from Kukushko sung to young bride and song on fields, shepherd and cattle sung on St. George's Day.
