- Abstract
Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a significant concern for healthcare professionals, causing long-lasting effects and high mortality rates. Road traffic accidents and falls from height are the most common causes of TBI, with India experiencing an increase in mortality rates despite global efforts to reduce them. Preventive measures, stricter law enforcement, and awareness campaigns are urgently needed to address this issue, especially in India. Research is also focused on understanding the risk factors and biomarkers of posttraumatic syndromes, as well as developing neuroprotective and neuromodulation initiatives for clinical application. Rehabilitation is crucial for TBI patients, and community-based rehabilitative protocols with family support and AI-directed interventions show promise for improved outcomes.
