- Abstract
Outpatient and palliative care services in patients' homes are modern medical fields that provide comprehensive and necessary care to both patients with a disability or incurable illness and their family members. The quality requirements of these services are regulated not only by legal requirements, but also by the competitive environment and/or social culture. Organizations providing nursing care at home and to achieve the quality of these services must identify the factors affecting the service quality, ensure timely management of affecting factors and take measures to prevent possible risk factors. The article analyzes the practical experience of applying quality indicators in a personal care organization providing nursing and palliative care services. During the study the organization's internal documents were analyzed: during the three stages were selected 9 documents related with the regulating the use of quality indicators. The study indicates that the quality indicators used in the researched healthcare organization are focused on the service organization processes and only two indicators of the whole list are intended to measure the outcome of the provided services. The use of quality indicators in the provision of nursing care at patients’ homes can help to improve the quality and outcomes of nursing at home.
