- Abstract
The doctrine of the Identity in the Israelites of the New Universal Pact church arrived in Colombia 20 years ago from Peru. During these years it has consolidated its presence in the region Municipio de Santander de Quilichao, at the north of the Cauca state. From there, the church manages its the socio-religious life plans its expansion throughout Colombia. Using diverse expansion strategies, it has consolidated local churches in several different places of the national geography, and it has participated in local society and politics, without losing its nexus with the church in Lima and maintaining the doctrine laid out by its founder. The low intensity of its religious proselytism contrasts with its strong social identity; thus, the group is more concerned with the strengthening of the "Israelite identity" as strategy of expansion than the quantitative expansion of its doctrine. This social identity based on religious elements presents a series of contradictions that are analyzed in this text.
