- Abstract
The authors respond to a comment on a research on overlapping mechanisms of exertional heat stroke (EHS) and malignant hyperthermia (MH). They agree with the use of biceps brachii as biopsy site and point out the inadequacy of using temperature to define EHS. They acknowledge the lack of specificity of in vitro contracture test and caffeine-halothane contracture test and caution on the ineffectiveness of cooling for interrupting calcium-triggered heat generation by skeletal muscle contractions.
