- Abstract
This research has the main objective to evaluate the effective field capacity and operational fuel consumption of an agricultural tractor, using different sizes of disk harrow and travel speeds, during harrowing operating. The experiment was conducted on soil classified as Argissolo Vermelho distrófico arênico, through a randomized block experimental design, with three repetitions and 27 experimental units. Three disc harrows of 28, 32 and 36 discs were used, coupled by the drawbar on an agricultural tractor, with 57.5 kW (78.2 hp) of maximum power on the engine. The information was recorded by the electronic instrumentation that was installed on the tractor. In these conditions, results indicate that, technically, the higher travel speed compensates for the smallest working width, but working with a larger disk harrow at a lower travel speed, provides fuel economy, making the harrowing operation more economically efficient.
