- Abstract
Since the establishment of the Republic, the wind of change has been experienced both politically and socially, and the effectiveness of technological developments in life has begun to strengthen. Mass media is one of the most important channels in determining people’s life practices and preferences. Increasing the attractiveness and efficiency of consumption is related to visual and design practices. At this point, the determining factors are advertisements and visual designs. These factors are among the main factors that direct the consumer. In this context, tabloids, in which the concepts of advertising and design are used effectively, are an important publication area. This study aims to determine the change in the advertising and design structure of the tabloids published in Turkey. For this purpose, Yedigün magazine, one of the first examples of the tabloid press, published in the 1930s in Turkey, Ses from the 1960s, Cosmopolitan from the 1990s, and All from the 2000s were selected as samples. Advertising and design contents in these magazines were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. As a result of the study, it was determined that the contents of the magazine experienced a change from textuality to visuality in the design field and their perceptual contents gained weight in designs.
