The article explains why the study "The Effect of Large-Capacity Magazine Bans on High-Fatality Mass Shootings, 1990-2017" continue to have an impact on academic circles. Topics discussed are political challenge to reduce gun violence posed by public health research on gun control, public health implications of the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in favor of the Second Amendment's operative clause expanding individual gun rights, news coverage of mass shootings and disagreement among researchers.
