- Abstract
The article discusses a study conducted to analyze the Patent foramen ovale (PFO) developmental and anatomical features and to discuss the clinical risks associated with this atrial septal defect in adults. Most people with PFO remain asymptomatic throughout life, but life-threatening events can develop in association with certain pathologies or activities, including cryptogenic stroke, migraine with aura, or decompression sickness in divers.
