- Abstract
Denim is one of the strongest fashion trends. People are moving on to a greener process. Now-a-days products are being made by mostly conserving the natural resources. Attempts are now made to lessen the use of water, electricity and also to reduce the cost of the end products. In this research an attempt was made to reduce on to the usage of water and also use less time. In this study Desizing, bleaching and softening was done by the conventional process and the one bath process. Enzymatic desizing, bleaching with hydrogen peroxide and softener was applied on the fabric. The recipe giving the highest bleaching effect was selected. A comparison was done between the untreated and treated sample. Further the comparison was done between the conventional process and the one bath process. The results showed that the whiteness index of the sample by conventional process and the one bath process was almost the same. The strength by the conventional process is more than that of the one bath process. Fabric count of the treated sample has increased indicating that the sample had shrinked. Treated samples has good resistant to dry rubbing. Wash fastness of the samples was also good. Yarn count and yarn crimp of the fabric after treatment remained the same. Time decreased for drop absorbency of the treated samples. Weight of the fabric decreased after treatment. Shrinkage percentage increased after treatment. Water absorbency of the fabric was good.
