Gender Policy for Community Radio.
- Abstract
The article presents the Gender Policy for Community Radio. Under Section I, women need to have access to the airwaves, in terms of the ability to make their own programmes about political and social issues and entertainment, and also to have programmes that deal with women's issues. It states that Section II encourages the representation of women in their diversity. It relates that Section III recognizes the diversity of women's experiences and Section IV acknowledges women's representation at all levels of station management. It also adds that Section V encourages the use of appropriate technology by women in radio broadcasting and Section VI considers funding and capacity-building for women involved in the radio.
